Parish Clerk

Council: Kingshill Parish Council

County: Kent

Location: Kingshill Parish Council, Community Centre.

Remuneration: Scale LC2 SCP range 33-36 (£36,922-£39,880) depending on experience and qualifications. Further progression within the pay scales will be subject to negotiation with the Parish Council. Enrolled in Local Government Pension Scheme.

Hours: 37 hours per week (but flexibility available).

Council data: Precept: Of £484,279 with a budget of £576,585. Population: 8000. The Clerk is responsible for managing up to 4 full and P/T staff.

Kingshill is a modern parish near Maidstone and within Tonbridge and Malling Borough.

Kingshill Parish Council wishes to appoint a highly motivated proactive person to the vacancy of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational, leadership and administrative abilities. The clerk reports to the parish council as a corporate body and will help the councillors implement and develop council policy.

The clerk must have excellent verbal and written skills in order to work well with councillors, colleagues, parishioners, borough and County Council officials and outside contractors. The successful applicant must either be CiLCA qualified or prepared to work towards this qualification, with the support of the parish council.

The position involves attending meetings of Kingshill Parish Council and preparing agendas and recording the minutes and resultant correspondence. It involves keeping the parish council accounts, preparation of the annual budget, and providing regular financial information to councillors. It involves regular contact with the public, officials and residents

Bar Supervisor

Bar Supervisor £10.94 per hour

Kings Hill Community Centre – Kings Hill

£10.94 per hour Evenings and Weekends (shifts notified in advance)

Kings Hill Community Centre is seeking a casual Bar Supervisor to oversee the bar operation.

Kings Hill Community Centre hosts licensed functions on Friday and Saturday evenings for up to 250 people.

The Position
The Bar Supervisor will be responsible for ordering stock in preparation for each function, organising safe delivery of the stock, organising the staff requirements, opening and closing of the till and maximising sales during the function. The Bar Supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring the function adheres to the licencing requirements of the Community Centre and closing down the building after the function.

Community Centre Manager

Kings Hill Community Centre is seeking to appoint a small, friendly team of casual bar staff to serve our party function customers.

Kings Hill Community Centre hosts licensed functions on Friday and Saturday evenings for up to 250 people.

The Position
We are looking for staff to work in our Community Centre in Kings Hill assisting with the running of a small bar.

Reports to:
Bar Supervisor

Key responsibilities

      · Assisting with setting up and closing bar

      · Serving drinks to customers

      · Keeping bar area clean and tidy at all times

      · Handling cash and using the till system

      · Maintaining stock levels and keeping wastage to a minimum

      · Other duties as directed by the Bar Supervisor

 Job type: 3-6 Month contract (hours negotiable)

Kings Hill Parish Council has a small team of friendly staff and are responsible for running the Kings Hill Community Centre bookings and supporting our parish council and our local community.

About the Role

We are looking for an Office Junior to join our team based in the Kings Hill Community Centre. We are a new team who are looking for a reliable person to help with the general administration tasks in the office. Due to COVID we have had a quiet period but now we are getting back to normal we are expecting an increase in bookings and activity. You would be joining a supportive team who are looking to improve and grow.

Key Duties:

  • Assist with customer facility bookings and answering queries from customers via email.
  • General filing for the Finance administrator.
  • Supporting the Clerk with emails/filing/diary organisation.
  • Dealing with customer queries via telephone.
  • Creation of posters for upcoming meetings and events.
  • General office tasks.

Additional training can be provided

About you:

The ideal candidate would be a friendly, positive team player who is also able to work independently. You'll need exceptional customer service skills, professional telephone and email manner and be eager to learn. Previous experience isn’t necessary but would be beneficial.
