The Management of the Community Halls
In January 2004 it was decided that the management of the Centre
should be the responsibility of the Parish Council operating through a
new Community Centre Committee which meets on the first Wednesday of
each month. Members of the previous management committee were
invited to join the new committee but declined.
The reason for the change was financial. It had become apparent that
the Centre would have great difficulties "balancing its books"
without unacceptable increases in hiring fees, or a reduction in the
level of service (and associated costs) expected by customers.
Although in the longer term steps will have to be taken to reduce the
dependence on public funding, in the meantime the financial strength of
the Parish Council was considered to be a necessary support during these
difficult times.
In the longer term the Council will examine all costs associated with
running the Centre and endeavour to bring outgoings in line with
income.
